Thanks to DHL we have been able to lower our shipping rates to the UK to match Zone 1.
This is great news for all of you out there in the UK shipping with Museumpak. For clients with a UK VAT number, please mention your VAT number upon checkout in the notes field. This will speed up processing times through British customs and delivery.

We have also expanded our horizon and our now serving 13 (!) more countries in Europe. 
Newcomers in the shipping destination list are:

To continue a smooth service to our valued UK customers we are introducing a few temporary measures that will allow us to work out a more permanent solution. We continue service to the UK and hope to reduce the effects of Brexit to a minimum for our clients.

Goods entering Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) with a total value of £135 or less (excluding freight and any other identifiable taxes and charges) will be replaced by supply VAT. This means that VAT will no longer be collected at the time of import, but will be charged by the seller at the time of sale and accounted for by the seller on a regular VAT return. The £135 limit applies to the value of a total consignment that is imported, not the separate value of individual items that are in a consignment.

This means that for an individual order of a Small or Medium Box the buyer will pay VAT to Museumpak as currently included in the listed prices and Museumpak will transfer VAT to the UK. For any orders of items over £135, customers will get a same day VAT refund from Museumpak and will be charged standard UK VAT at 20% upon entry in the UK. 

For those of you who prefer to avoid the VAT refund, we offer the possibility to email us your order. We'll prepare you a direct link on the webstore that will include correct VAT and shipping for your order. Any orders can be emailed to info@museumpak.com and we'll process the order link same day.

All our webstore prices include 21% Belgian VAT.

Looking to hunker down with a good book ? This is what we've been reading this summer.
"Collection Care" by Brent Powell provides a solid overview of basic artwork care procedures and policies. 

The book begins with an introduction to collection care, including an important chapter on training and personal safety. Subsequent sections cover the principles of handling and caring for two- and three-dimensional artefacts, emphasising the importance of proper risk assessment and informed decision-making. The final two chapters discuss internal and external environmental factors relevant to collection care, including storage, condition reporting, crating, and transport. One key contribution of this book is its many photos, which provide a visual reference for handling techniques and apparatuses. Such a generously illustrated reference work is rare and extremely useful. The volume concludes with an extensive 'References and Resources' section, which guides readers to more detailed information on all the topics covered in the book.

It doesn’t matter if you’re new to packing and shipping art, have lots of experience or — like us — care about doing things right. This extensive manual will be an ideal companion and give answers to most, if not all of your questions.

Art in Transit was written by museum experts and will tell you exactly what materials to use and what to avoid when packing different types of art like paintings or framed work. It will also speak to you in detail about evaluating fitness for travel if you work with fragile materials and dealing with environmental conditions. The differences between traveling by truck, train, airplane or ship help to clarify all of the works most important sensitivities and how to deal with them.

​This book by far is the most complete in it’s genre and was published by the National Gallery of Art Washington in 1991. Originally written for galleries of art and museums, it brings together invaluable experiences of conservators, packers, and shippers of painting.
